Why choose training early for your puppy
to get the best start?
Puppy Preschool is a two to six week program designed to give your puppy the very best start in life. Our program exposes them to real-life situations while in a home setting with one of our skilled trainers.
Our Preschool trainers welcome their students into their homes and begin training immediately with one-on-one and group sessions. Depending on the length of training you have chosen, we use positive reinforcement to teach basic commands such as “sit,” “down” and “off.”
Crate training which leads to successful potty training** begins on day one, and is followed by leash walking. How polished your puppy’s skills are will vary with the length you choose. With preschool, the goal is to make your home stress-free, simple, and easy.
Your puppy will be started on a daily schedule which includes, regular potty, play, and crate times. The primary goal of the two-week program is basic crate training. This involves taking naps throughout the day and sleeping through the night for seven to eight hours. Basic commands such as your puppy’s “Name,” “No,” “Quiet,” and “No-Bite” are introduced. Also, your puppy will be introduced to the outdoors as a place to potty and play. Our two-week program is designed to help eliminate the sleepless nights and messy crates that often occur when bringing a new puppy home.
Continuing with the daily schedules and crate training, with week three we’re introducing the word “sit” and begin walking on a leash. Basic in-home manners are also being taught, all with positive reinforcement. Consistency is the key to this program.
Our four-week program is a direct continuation of the three-week training program. Skills will become embedded as your puppy ages. During this week the “down” command is being introduced. This is an ideal program for new puppy owners who want a more comprehensive program that provides a well-mannered puppy. This program is best for novice puppy owners, or families who work full-time and need a slightly older puppy to bring home.
Puppies who complete our six-week program are ideal for families that haven’t had a puppy before or for families wanting to spend less time training and more time bonding with their new puppy. With this program, families have an advanced puppy which may start to signal when they need to go outside to potty. Your puppy will be more polished by continuing the skills they have already learned.
** There is no guarantee of potty training being completed in any program. Each puppy is different and matures at different rates. Continued training at home is a MUST if you want your puppy to maintain the skills that have been learned during Puppy Preschool.
